Step Brothers is a
classic example of a cliche comedy as it follows all the steps to make a
succesfull comedy firstly you have the fallout then the two men who i suppose
are stuck in younger brains become friends and as they are having so much fun it
all goes wrong when the dad and mum think that they need to be responsible after
going through the film trying to get them to get jobs it is them who re-unite
them and as they peform a powerfull ballad they all live happily ever
after.
All comedies have there own conventions and cliches to follow by for example
adam sandler in happy gilmore, water boy and just go with it where he has a long
adventure meets a girl has to try and win her heart in the end he does and
obviously they live happily ever after. See in will ferrels films he starts them
with him not liking someone or a distraction ends up liking this person but just
like the romance films you have an argument or something that distarcts the
character from there aim but in the end they are reunited an excellent example
of this is step brothers
This is the trailer
for the a fantastic comedy the hangover the reason this film did so well is
because of the way there trailer was laid out it gave the viewers a look at the
way the whole film was laid out it gave them a glimpse at good highlights form
the beggining, middle and the end they involve good jokes such as paging dr
faggot this obviously makes the audience laugh and attracts the audience to go
and watch the rest of the film. Within the first two minutes they make sure that
they try to gat a good amount of comedy in without showing the audience too
much.
The Hangover is a 2009
American comedy film directed by Todd Phillips and written by Jon Lucas and
Scott Moore. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Heather
Graham, Justin Bartha and Jeffrey Tambor. The Hangover tells the story of Phil
Wenneck, Stu Price and Alan Garner, who travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for a
bachelor party to celebrate Doug Billings' impending marriage to Tracy Garner.
However, after being drugged with roofies, Phil, Stu and Alan have no memory of
the previous night's events and must find Doug before the wedding can
occur.
Lucas and Moore wrote
the script after executive producer Chris Bender's friend disappeared and had a
large bill after being sent to a strip club. Lucas and Moore sold it to the
studio for $2 million, Philips and Jeremy Garelick rewrote the script to include
a tiger as well as a subplot involving a baby and a police cruiser, and also
including boxer Mike Tyson. Filming took place in Nevada for 15 days, and during
filming, the three main actors established a friendship between
them.
To make a decision for which film institution
is hard as all intsitutions offer the same services, all the big companies such
as Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers and Universial etc have all films
covering all film genres. Making a choice which institution offers the most to
out film is a hard decision to make. The Oceans triology were all made by Warner
Brothers studios, whilst both Italian Jobs were made by Paramount Pictures.
Layer cake was made by Sony Pictures.
Taking all of these institutions into account I think that I personally would lean towards Paramount Pictures as I personally feel that those types of films with the serious outlook is where we are trying to take our film too and that is why i would take our film down that route . The reason we may side with Warner brothers is because of the way they have an upbeat crime film and that is something we can realte too.
In this poster they centre the three main charcters to show the audience who they are and that they will be the main characters in it.
They use the red background to attract the audience to the black and white of the main characters .
They use the dice into the corner to show that this film will involve gambling but if that will be of the game type is still undecided
They have the title in bold writing which attracts the audience to the name and makes them see the franchise
We see the names of the charcters above the title this is to show the audinec the big names that are in the film and by doing this you apply a selling point
From looking at films such
as Ocean 11we have found out that the clothing for that genre of film is suits
and smart shirts as they are quite often in casinos and gambling in high up
places. If our story line involves some kind of gambling scheme then it is
likely that we will feature in our film wearing shirts or suits as it fits in to
the genre. There have been parts in the films where some of the characters have
worn boiler suits or dressed as matainence men, that is usually included so they
can sneak into the casino or reach areas which are perhaps out of bounds to
non-staff. Personally I like the idea of wearing suits or shirts as it make us
look smart, it is also a good idea to have the same dress scheme as films in the
similar genre especially the Oceans films as they were very successful.
I have been researching possible certificates
for the film by looking at other 'rat pack' films and they all vary around 12
and 12a. this is a good age as I believe that we want to make the film
accessible to the majority of possible film viewers. 12 to 12a allows all
viewers 12 and over to watch the film, the 12a allows younger viewers to watch
the film as long as supervised by an adult. Below is rat pack films and their
ratings:
Oceans Eleven-12 Oceans Twelve-12A Oceans
Thirteen-PG The Italian Job (2003)-12A The Italian Job (1969)-PG Layer
Cake-15
After studying oceans eleven to thirteen music they all seem to have the same sound they consitnently go for an upbeat tune throughout this is because the ocean films are going for a more of a comic crime film where as me and Alex are going for a more classic crime film such as Goodfellas or the godfather in which they have more of a dark soundtrack into which the audience are always left wondering what will happen where as with the oceans soundtracks they leave the audience looking at the comedy of the film and the fight scenes rather than the plot line of the actual crime film
Me and Alex have decided that for this trailer we are going to design our own music using a music software app . We feel by doing this we can explore a broad route of music and really find the right sound for our trailer over a variety of different tunes rather than a copyrighted music that wouldn't give the trailer the authentic feel . By doing this we show the audience that the trailer has all of our touches on it
For my trailer this year I
will be working with Alex Valente, our genre is going to be crime/theft type
film that follows such films as the oceans 11,12,13. Within our trailer we will
try to make it similar to the conventions of the oceans films trailers, as they
gained critical acclamation globally. We have looked at these trailers already
and we have noted some of the conventions that these trailers follow. Will need
to have plenty of action scenes such as fights and chases, there will most
likely be very little gun fights as there isn't much of those in this series of
films. All that we know is that there will be some kind of ransom that this pair
of professional thieves have to pay of off and they will pull a major robbery
that will give them the money to pay it off. Another thing I noticed in the
trailers is that there were some funny punchlines in the trailer which my self
and Alex will most likely try and add into our trailer.
Actresses who were considered for the role of Bridget Jones were Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Rachel Weisz and Cameron Diaz. Toni Collette declined the role because she was on Broadway starring in The Wild Party at the time. Kate Winslet was also considered, but the producers decided she was too young.

The red writing reminds the audience of the previous installment of the
film.
Brad Pitt gets a call a call from a character in the previous film who the
crew robbed from. this gives the audience an idea as to what the story line will
be about.
Within the film there are many unique selling points as there is an a list
cast which includes the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
the phone call and the ransom is serious as Pitt's car explodes.
When Pitt is on the phone the camera is filmin over the shoulder
