Conventions of Action/Adventure Genre

Most modern action/adventure films tend to follow simple conventions of action adventure films by doing this they attract an audience who love to see action cliches so an action adventure trailer is key in establishing these conventions . Some of these conventions are there being explosions throughout. People firing guns but they never seem to hit the hero!  The hero always finds a love interest and that love interest always seems to get in some bother with the villain character. There is always a big fight scene in which the villain and his army come to blows with the hero but thankfully the hero always triumphs. By the hero winning it allows sequels and a chance to incorporate more villainous characters in which the audience can find a new disliked person.  

The trailer starts off with some tense music and a female narrating .Straight away this makes the audience question who is she and what role does she have to play in the film . Getting the audience asking questions is effective at getting them interested in the film and eager to watch it to find out who this mysterious character is and how she will effect the plot . The content of the narration informs us that a storm is coming ,we link this with with destruction which gets us excited as to what this storm is and what role it will play. We then see what looks like a villainous character we think this because we see a strap around his mouth and a sack being taken off his head this has connotation that he is dangerous and from that we link this character to the storm. Seeing the villain excites the audience as they can now see who Batman will have to face but it also excites Batman fans as they know about this villain and what he is capable of so they are even more excited.  We the see the plane the villain is on crush another plane which shows us that this man is trouble and is out to get batman . We then see batman struggling against this new villain which allows the audience to sympathise with batman and really route for him . We also see a woman character who we relate to the narrator and we see her as an aid and a love interest for batman. This is effective in a trailer as anyone who has seen anything batman related now wants to see what happens to him.

The trailer shows lots of  conventional action sequences one of the stand out ones is when batman and bane and there army's are fighting and we see explosions which is another action adventure convention.  Showing tasters of the action to come in the trailer is effective in an action films trailer as that is ultimately what the audience want to see. The narration and dialogue of the clip leaves us as the audience with lots of questions which will influence us to watch the film in the hope of finding answers. They have shown a few key sequences but have left the audience wanting more to see how batman will cope against  his new villain .
