Evaluation Activity 1
In this clip we used a close up shot of Alex this adds emphasise to the scene as it involves the audience because they feel like Alex is shooting at them. The audience feel connected to the character and that gets them more involved in the story because they are rooting for somebody. We also see the location in clear hall this adds to the tension of the scene as the audience relates this too the Barthes Enigma code then it is a scene that makes the audience ask the question why is Alex there and what is he bringing to the scene . We also ask the question who is he shooting at and is it the villainous character we have seen before. Another way this scene is effective is because it really shows the heroic character we see him as a James Bond like character because we relate to the suit as someone like him . We also see the suit as someone who means business and is not afraid of any consequences . This makes the audience feel a sense of safety within this hero and that he is someone who can be trusted so straight away they start to route for him. We also see the gun being used this is an effective prop as it differs him away from a normal character and it is shown as his trademark. The lighting used in this scene is a contrast we have used a light hall but tried to dim the lights a bit for the reason that we want to keep the scene vibrant and excitable but yet it shows the seriousness of him shooting someone .
We see special effects used in this scene the hero character jumps out of the cars and fires gun shots we have used muzzle flash to give off the illusion that he is actually shooting . This is a good scene that shows the genre of the film the action scene shows the audience that this is going to be a crime film . Once again we are shown the costume of Alex by him wearing a suit it shows that he means business and we relate him to people like James Bond .This is an effective shot that is used it is shot from a wide range so that we can see the whole surroundings and gives the audience a grasp on what is going on . I think that an effective shot used is keeping the door open in the scene it takes away half the shot that has no relevance to the trailer but yet keeps the audience aware of there surroundings. Once again we see our heroic character Alex in his trademark suit and gun this makes the audience realate to Alex and makes them know that this him without even having to see him . The sound used in this scene is really effective for example we have used a fast paced sound with a heart beating to add tension to the scene . We have used muzzle flash within the scene to show bullets bouncing off the car and to show alex shooting . We have also made this one of our longest scenes because it is a scene that really shows the genre of the film and that is why it is so important
This is a scene which introduces the villainous character . We have done it in a way were the audience cant even make assumptions about the character they are shown from the scene that he is a character who means business and is out to get the heroic character which makes the viewers dislike him .This scene sets up the film by explaining to the audience that this man has taken money from him .We also see from these scenes that there is a vulnerability to our heroic character this makes us sympathise with this man and gives the audience another feel for him .If we also take a look at the editing the whole shot is taken up by the two characters and by doing this know one needs to know the surroundings and all you see is the intensity between these two characters . This is also the first chance we get to look at the image of the villain and we see that he is a dark character by what he is wearing which is dark clothing this is effective as just by looking at him you can tell that he is the villain and that is why we really appreciate this scene . Another effective editing tool we've done is slown down the process in which I come up from behind the chair this is done to add tension to the scene so you can really capture the audiences attention and get them to focus on alexs reaction to the villain popping up from behind him .
This is an effective scene as this is the first time we really see the heroic and villainous character do battle. The location is a flight of stairs adding to the excitement of the fight. we also get a viewing of costumes and props we see the gun in the hand of the villain . We also see that both characters are wearing costumes . The hero is wearing a suit adding to the likeability of the character. We also see a good use of our surroundings by using this open hall it allows the audience to really focus on the two characters fighting and it means we analyse every punch or kick thrown which is effective because it draws the audience in and makes them feel like they are part of it. We also use a good sound board in this clip as it is very energetic and tense music which gets the audience excited but yet lets them know the significance of the fight .This scene also opens up the Barthes Enigma code in which they ask questions why are they fighting and what has lead them to be fighting like this. Another thing that we think is good is the way in which we have positioned our camera because it is at a really good angle in which you can view everyone from a high angle and really get a feel for the clip .We also see the reiteration of the characters images together showing the audience who they are and why they are the villain and the hero by there attire.
This is a match on Action shot . We have used this as we feel it really grabs the attention of a viewer and makes them question what is beyond that door and how that will play out for the character . It also asks the questions whose hand it is which adds suspense to the clip . By doing this we are abiding by a media theory of Barthes Enigma Code getting the audience to ask questions .This is a short but very effective shot as it uses a really constructive shot to use Barthes enigma code to ask the question what is behind that door and why have they felt that whatever is behind that door is so important that will have to feature in the trailer . There are a lot more questions posed by this clip and they are all about the mystery of the door and that's what we really wanted to do by using his clip . We have also used a lot of tense sounds to en capture the audiences imagination and add to the mystery of the door and what is behind it .
In this scene you can see an overview shot that we have used this is to show the audience the surroundings that are there . This is also the first time we are introduced into the heroic character but we have used this as an introductory because we don't see Alex's face and it adds to the suspense for the audience as they want to see what he is like . We have Alex narrating over this part which explains what the film is about and also the genre talking about scamming . We also have used the over the shoulder shot to great effect by being able to show the surroundings and being able to introduce our main character to the film .We also have used this shot as we feel it will improve the overall standard of the piece of work .
In this clip we see the heroic character in his prime scowering a building for the villain . This scene is really good as we involve costume props and location . It also allows the audience to see and inside scene where Alex is in action as it shows to the audience that it will be a hands on movie in which there will be lots of fight scenes. we see a close up shot of Alex which is effective because it allows the audience to see more of an inside look at our heroic character which makes them feel more connected to the character. Once again we are showing the gun and suit of Alex we are just always showing the image of our main character so that we can get the audience to relate to him and what he is going through . We have used a long shot so that we can show everything Alex is wearing and the surroundings that are around by doing this we show everyone where he is and it creates the picture for the audience which makes them feel like they are involved within the film .
In this scene we have used and effective shot in which we see me and Alex running through a puddle we close in on our shoes by doing this we make the audience ask the question why are they chasing each other ? This scene adds emphasise because we have edited it so that we really see the shoes going through the water . This is one of my favourite shots as we use the puddle to add tension and emphasise the chase scene it also involves the enigma code by making the audience ask the question who are these people running and are they running from something or chasing each other either way it makes them get excited and interested. As you can see from the picture above we have taken inspiration from this short picture in which we see this man running through a puddle this is really effective because it gets them into the clip.
In this scene we get the audience enthralled by the action by showing them a clip in which Alex punches the camera it makes the audience feel like they are involved in the trailer . We also show the audience about the genre of the film with the punching as it shows it is an action film and excites them. We also use this scene as a bridge to the high tempo music as it comes from know where and gets the audience thinking wow now this is an action film we also use this to start introducing some credits for example we introduce words such as thrilling block buster and we also show that we were nominated for an award because of our film which straight away makes the audience wonder why it is so good .
This is the title of our film and it really stands out to the audience with the white on black background . We have used a font which has been used throughout this creates an audience brand together . We feel the name Bankroll suggests to the audience that its a film to do with money and that is as much as we will give away in the title. By publishing the title at the end we really connect with the audience. The font we have used is Roman times and is small font because we don't want to overpower the black with too much writing and this way its shows that it is simple and that it means business and i think that is what we are trying to get across within our film . We have taken inspiration from the source code poster in the way in which we have used our font.
Magazine Cover
- The font at the top of the magazine draws the attention to the reader. The big EMPIRE writing shows the audience what the magazine is and gets the audience to relate to that font as the Empire brand.
- Empire have gone with a catchy slogan of Bloody Hell relating to Harry Potters battle and face . By doing this they draw attention to Harry Potter picture.
- They use Harry Potter as the main part of the front cover and by doing this it shows the readers what is in the magazine . It also gets Harry Potter fans interested because of that link.
- The magazine also involves what will be in the magazine on the side to get the audience interested if they are not by Harry Potter
- The writing at the top is Worlds biggest magazine this is showing the product in a great way and getting it sold more.
Film Ideas
Throughout this film process me and Alex have looked at loads of different ways we can improve our film so we looked into using other software to improve it for example we have used Alex's Ipad to make a car explode and because our trailer is an action crime trailer it would help to have something such as an explosion as it applies to the clichés and conventions of a crime film . We also feel that by using other software it shows that we can use other programmes to our advantage . On the note about cliché and conventions we have used gun shots that never seem to end or the fact that other characters always seem to miss with their shots.

Aliens Posters
Similarities and Differences between the Alien Posters
ALIEN Posters Comparison

This Alien Poster uses the green theme as with the other 2 posters that support the Alien Franchise. In the middle there is a massive green egg hatching which shows something extra-terrestrial. They have led with the slogan in space no one can hear you scream which suggests to the audience that the film will be held in outer space. |

If we link this Alien poster to the other one we see
they have gone for the same green surroundings and theme to show that extra-terrestrial
theme. They have gone for a
different font and have included the names of the actors. They have also
included a light green beam down the middle which will link into the other
films.
|

This is the first film produced by James Cameron and you
can tell that by the new blue theme he has also included the characters for
the first time this may show that he is going in a different direction but he
has included some ALIEN clichés such as the hatching eggs showing that it hasn’t
lost it roots.
|

This is the other poster for James Cameron’s Aliens he
has used the original connection of the first poster but moved the writing
down so it has linked into the first ever poster They have also stuck with
the blue theme linking it to the original James Cameron poster.
|

This poster shows James Cameron putting his own stamp on
the film by going for a different kind of poster. This time though he has
tried to use the alien as a representation for the egg hatching showing
that it has hatched now. This also shows that this is the last in the sequel
because they have veered so far of the original poster yet they have stuck
onto the

Storyboard animatic
This is our Storyboard Animatic
In our Animatic we have used various techniques and skills that we hope will translate onto our trailer when it is produced .Firstly we start off with black screens which adds to the tension we explain in these blakclips that there will be fast dramatic music obviously this will relay onto our screen when we hear the music. We then shoot to a clip of our production company which is universal pictures . By doing this we associate ourselves with this company allowing the audience to realte to our film by universal. Another Black screen will then appear but this time with narration we will explain the film in this part by explaining the scamming that is occuring .We then flick to our first screen which is heavy breathing and a man standing very mysterious were hoping to recreate this in school where we will see Alex's character standing over a large area. This allows the audience to get a view for what is going on in the scenery .This then leads onto the hooded man running we will transfer this into our film using a cycle path it is nice and narrow and will add to the mystery of the character . We once again carry on with our narration by doing this were showing to the audince what the film is about without giving away any details which could spoil it.
We then go to a scene which has been adapted slightly in the film we see the villanous character which is played by me holding a gun in a rural area saying "you my friends have bitten off more than you can chew. We have changed this to a scene within a car in which now i talk more about why im after this character and that is about why he has taken so much money from him and how long he has to return it .
Then there is a dramatic gun shot straight away grabbing the audience attention by doing this we let the audience know that there has been a murder of some sort or that this scamming has really kicked off . We see more heavy breathing and running which adds tension to the scene.

Target Audience On why it appeals to them ?
Me and Alex are looking for an audience of 15 and up we see this as an ideal age because of the fact that our film has a lot of action and extreme scenes we also compared this to other films such as oceans 11,12,13 and goodfellas. The age bracket for these films are between 12 and 18 where as we dont feel that 18 would be the right age as we dont want to take 3 years of an age bracket where we feel we will gross the most money from .
Everyone loves an action film but if you include the right conventions and cliches in the film it attracts the same audience that always enjoy the film.I think we have done that well by including scenes such as a high speed chase and cars crashing. We also include trains and sharp fighting scenes which get the audience excited.
Were always trying to find different ways to appeal to our audience in fact we are making film magazines and posters to promote the film and get the message out to the audinece about ourfilm and let them know what its about . Our film is an action crime film that shows the mysterious life of one man on the hunt with another for a massive fortune.
