Sky fall Trailer

The new instalment of the 007 re boost is out and the trailer is full of action, what the audiences are looking for. The James Bond series are very well known especially in the UK which adds to the popularity surrounding the film, but also for the its action; and occasional soft sex scenes.

In the trailer sound is used emphasis the impact of the action scene taking place to really get the heart racing and get any viewer interested in seeing the film. From the trailer the target audience are young males to mature adult males (16-35+) however there may be interest from a female audience as the actor Daniel Craig is somewhat of a heartthrob and even in the trailer you can see his toned muscles and heavy six pack.

The Dictator Trailer

This trailer gives its audience a glimpse at what the film will be like, the clips they put into the trailer tells the target audience that the film will include the things they are looking for. The things the comedy audience will be looking for is a protagonist who is funny, in this case the protagonist is a tyrant and leader of a country, with this we see politically incorrect and illegal acts being committed by the tyrant but a joke is being made out of it. The style of comedy portrayed in the trailer is synonymous with Sacha Baron Cohen which is very effective at attracting the viewers of his other films that helped achieve the total box office gross of over $400m from his three films. The trailer shows funny clips, stereotypes being made fun of and well known actors and even has star kameos.

Dark Knight Poster

Welcome to a world without rules' on it's own it doesn't really mean anything, combine it with the sky filled with smoke and the decaying building, it adds a huge amount of connotation. Giving clues but no answers like this poster does is very effective, it makes the posters audience question what is going to happen, and whats gone wrong, even people that aren't particularly fans of batman will still be interested to see if batman can handle his next challenge. The poster doesn't just get the current audience excited, it gets others that have not seen the films interested (which is a great way to increase sales). The flaming bat on the collapsing building makes the audience think maybe batman is responsible for the destrucion, this again is very effective as it gets the audience asking questions and therefore interested. The main attraction to the batman franchise is the hero himself, so having him standing strong, infront of a collapsing building with his fists clenched adds a huge amount of buzz to the film as people essentially want to see how strong he is. Although 'The Dark Knight' is not a horror film

The Godfather Poster

The font is again similar to the previous poster I had analysed.

The puppet control handles could represent the man on the poster as a puppeteer of many people.

The name of the film also gives some kind of indication as to what role the person in the photo has in the film.

Paramount is a big production company and stands out in the poster.

Paramount is mentioned a lot of times and could be considered as the unique selling point.

Again, like the previous poster, it consists of dark colours.

The white  writing on a dark background is a popular convention in which crime film posters most follow.

Friday 13th Poster

This is the poster for the film Friday The 13th, it was originally just one film but there have been sequels and remakes of the film. This genre is different from any other genre I have analysed before.

*The picture within the killer is at night time in what appears to be an empty forest  perfect scene for a killer to cause havoc

*The killer is obviously the killer as he is wielding a knife coated in blood, most likely from his victims.

*The blood from the knife is dripping down onto the 13 in the title below.

*The quote at the top of the poster gives the audience an idea of what the ending could be as it claims that "nothing will save them"

Drive Poster

The film follows most crime film posters as there is a dark background with the white title, this is a convention that most crime films will follow.

A quote from a critic at the top of the film which really compliments the film.
the neon pink titles and the clothing on the Ryan Gosling is very retro which perhaps tells the audience when the film is set.

the is a slogan underneath the title which is very short and punchy, and memorable.
awards it has won at the cannes film festival, the film festival is a very prestigious event.

Ryan Gosling is clearly the unique selling point of this film as he is the only figure on the poster his name is also the onlyone there as well.

Oceans 13 poster

  1. In this poster they centre the three main characters to show the audience who they are and that they will be the main characters in it.
  2. They use the red background to attract the audience to the black and white of the main characters .
  3. They use the dice into the corner to show that this film will involve gambling but if that will be of the game type is still undecided
  4. They have the title in bold writing which attracts the audience to the name and makes them see the franchise
  5. We see the names of the characters above the title this is to show the audience the big names that are in the film and by doing this you apply a selling point

Get Carter Poster

This is the film poster for the British Gangster film Get Carter:

The main character is the main focal point on the trailer.
There is again white bold writing on the dark background like I mentioned earlier on about the conventions of crime film posters.
Michael Caine in his prime is the only one name mentioned on the poster so he is most likely the main selling point.
Another indicator about the genre of the film is that Michael Caine is holding a huge gun.
There are pictures of scenes from the film, these give the audience what kind of scenes are in the film.
Caine is all suited up, suiting the gangster theme of the film
No release date mentioned.

Bad Teacher

Bad Teacher is a 2011 comedy film directed by Jake Kasdan based on a screenplay by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, and starring Cameron DiazJustin Timberlake, and Jason Segel. The film was released in the United Kingdom on June 17 and in the United States and Canada onJune 24, 2011. It is about a woman (Cameron Diaz) who at the start looks like a gold digging woman with no care for her job as a teacher as we find out that her husband dumps her we dont start to sympathise with her as she is still on the prowl for a rich man as the film goes on like all romances there is a love intreset and that comes in the form of justin timberlake who acts as a cover teacher unfortunately another woman has her eyes on her mind and that mrs squirrel this leads to them two competing. Throughout the film Jason segel who has expressed his interest in elizabeth who is cameron diaz but always being rejeted and the audience really connect to that. In the end unlike most conventional romances elizabeth doesnt end up with theman we all excpect but with the unlikely funny man .

Water Boy

Waterboy is a comedy film that was created in 1998 by Frank Coraci, and featured Adam Sandler, Katy Bates and Henry Winkler. The story is about a boy who works as a water boy for his local football team and by chance discovers his talent for tackling and is put on the team, the rest of the story is about his rise to fame.

The film starts with a Touchstone Pictures title, as this company helped produce the film, in the background is the sound of someone scratching on vinyl decks. You then hear a noise that is associated with Australia, a bouncy sort of didgeridoo noise. A bass line then joins this and the first shot is shown. It shows a river on a sunny day, the camera is panning up to show the forthcoming river, it then flashes to the next shot, which is of the trees on the side of the river. Some of the producers name is shown on screen as well. The upbeat song, does suggest to the audience that the film is a comedy as the music isn’t quick, which would suggest Action, or scary, which would suggest Horror or slow and mellow, which would suggest Comedy. This then is taken of screen using a ripple effect, this links in with being on a boat. The next shot is looking down on the river, which is moving, suggesting that the audience is viewing from a boat. It then shows the directors name, and uses the same ripple effect. It then also shows Adam Sandler’s name, it does this as he is a famous actor and showing this to the audience might attract their attention even more as they know he is a good actor. The camera then pans up to show a football stadium and the title the Waterboy rush’s at the screen. The font is blocky, and reminisant of American Football team logos, but the colors do not correspond to any actual teams. The colors are bright and clash, which do give off a comical vibe. The next camera shot is then on the inside of the stadium, you can tell the team is training as a man runs across the pitch with equipment in the background and the stadium is empty. The music fades out quickly as the player runs past the camera. The camera slightly follows him to stop panning on to coaches. You can tell this from the way they are not wearing any football gear and they are holding a stopwatch and clipboard. The man says something, from this you can hear that he is from America and this suggests to the viewer that the film is set in America. You see a quick shot of some players training with some dummies. The shot after this is a group of cheerleaders practicing their routine. The rest of the shots until 01:03 are footage of the team training. While this is shown some more names are shown discreetly at the corners of the screen. This means that they are less important than the people at the start. A convocation then occurs between 2 men, the second mans accent is American, confirming that the film is set in America. This is strange, as you cannot really tell that the film is a Comedy as nothing comidical has occurred so far, this could mean that some comedy fans may loose concentration from the film. The 2 men’s conversation carries on until 01:27 when the shot changes to the tunnel. You can see the teams Waterboy walking out, this shot is used in many actual Football games, making the audience guess the plot a bit, and that the Waterboy will one day become a Footballer. The music starts again, but this time is a bit more rocky, as it is played on an Electric Guitar. The Waterboy sort of staggers out of the tunnel. The shot then switches to a huddle of team members. This is reminisant of what they do at the start of a game when they form plans, this suggests to the audience that they are plotting something, and as the way the camera shots are putting together it makes it look like they are looking at the Waterboy. It then goes back to the Waterboy and you see the first sign of it being a comedy. The Waterboy’s facial expression is crumpled as if he is making a face, but it looks like it is his face. Also the way he comically pumps his water machine suggests that it is a comedy. He then takes a sip of his water and tastes it as if it was a glass of wine, he then starts describing it, his voice is high and in a funny tone, making the audience laugh at him. The way he also describes it makes the viewers laugh as well, “its clean. Its cold. Now that’s what I call high quality H2O.” This last bit shows for sure that the film is going to be a comedy. I like the start of this film as it starts not showing that it’s a comedy and then at the last few seconds of the
